a note to ben and sharon

Please read and see you think.  You can add or delete anything you want, but I think something needs to be said.  Neither of us were too happy with their visit.

Ben

I hope you got home ok and all is well

About that foamy,  I was wondering when you were going to get back to me on the disposition of it.

As I said in the text, I do not want to keep it here. Perhaps Paul or Mary or one of your other friends could come over and pick it up and store it until you are next up this way.

Both Ade and I were more than a bit disappointed after you left.  We felt a bit "used".

The time you came up a year ago, you spent almost all your time visiting others, and we did not see you for even one complete morning or afternoon.

This year you stayed a week and when we did arrive home no effort was made to spend the day with us, and I am sure you could have delayed your return to the island at least one day, or changed arrangements for Monday.

Also, when I mentioned that we could work on repairing the stone by the hearth that Nolan broke, I did  not think you took it seriously.  As I mentioned, it would only take a bit of our time to put it on a backing and make it look and keep significantly better.

On Monday morning we were looking forward to perhaps doing something together, but your commitments again prevented that from taking place.  Ade went to the trouble of taking a large roast out of the freezer for dinner on Monday night, but unknown to us you had already booked an evening with Mary (which in our minds showed you were not overly interested in spending much time with us).

I would have gladly played some tennis with you, but notice the evening before to be up and ready at 6:30 was obviously a little much to expect when we had just arrived from Calgary.  Also, I must admit we were very disappointed not being met by you when we arrived.  We did give you lots of notice that we were arriving in the evening and it would have been nice to have a snack of something waiting for us after our effort to get home quickly to see the two of you.

Ade was most put out when you suggested that we drop Paul's presents off at his office.  In her mind it is just another thing that we are asked to do, when our plate is totally booked and if Paul wants the presents, he should make the effort to visit us and get them.

We do make every effort to accommodate the requests of friends like you and Sharon.  However, in your last 2 visits it seems that we have been doing a large amount of accommodating while receiving very few acts of appreciation other than a number of "Thank-yous".

…had to get it off our chests…
